Coronavirus Update – Phased Restart of In-Library Services
We are closely monitoring the recommendations from the CDC and the New York State and Nassau County Health Departments and our reopening process will follow these guidelines in close coordination with the other Nassau County Libraries.
Curbside Pickup
Library staff have established and are testing protocols for contactless curbside pickup of Library Materials, make your requests today! When your items are available, we will notify you via e-mail or phone if none is on file will allow you to schedule a pickup window for your items.
For the time being we will be scheduling pickups from 9:30AM-9PM, Monday- Thursday; Friday and Saturday hours from 10AM-6PM are also available.
If you would like to reserve items to be picked up starting Monday, June 22nd, you may do so now by searching our catalog at goldcoastlibrary.org or by using our materials request form where you can request multiple items, and ask for recommendations.
You may also place requests by phone at 516-759-8300, press 0 for the circulation desk.
Browsing Hours
Starting Monday, August 17th, you may enter the building to browse the collection during select periods of the day. To start, those hours will be 10AM-1PM and 2PM -5:30PM. Hours will be expanded over time. We will be letting a limited number of people into the building at one time. Please visit the Library driveway to enter directly through the door to the Main Floor or the Children’s Room depending on which you would like to visit.
You MUST where a mask to enter the building. Please maintain social distance from other visitors and staff.
Returning Items
Library Materials that you currently have checked out may be returned to the Library’s Outdoor Book Return at any time.
Out of an abundance of caution, all items will be quarantined for 72 hours after we receive them. You will still see them on your account until they are checked in.
Digital Collections
While our building has been closed, we hope you have been enjoying the many digital services available to you for free, such as e-books and e-audiobooks; streaming TV, movie, and music services; and digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines. All of these services remain available for your use. If you did not previously have a Library Card, you can get a temporary digital Library Card by filling out the application form here which will give you access to all of our digital services.
Additional In-Person Services
Additional in-library services will be phased in over time as it becomes appropriate. Access to the Library Building, including study spaces, meeting spaces, public access computers and in-person Library sponsored programming will return at a later date. Watch our website for updates as they become available.
