Managing Your Gold Coast Public Library Account


How to reserve and renew items online, sign up for text message notifications, & pay library fines online.
 

You can now access and manage your library account from home by simply following the directions below.

 

Getting Started
  1. Open the My Library Account page (a button to the My Library Account page is also available on the top of every page of our website).
  2. In the spaces provided, enter your 14-digit Gold Coast Public library card barcode number (without spaces) and a PIN (a password created by the user--we recommend you use the last four digits of your telephone number). Click Submit.
  3. A new page will open and prompt you to enter your PIN number two more times. Click Submit.
  4. A new page will open entitled My Record. Your account has now been created. Should you choose, click Modify Personal Information and enter your e-mail address. By enabling this you will receive notices via e-mail when reserved books have arrived for you and when borrowed items are overdue.
  5. Please remember to log out of your account when you are finished using the Log Out button.

 
Reserving Books Online

 

Please be aware that the fulfillment of reserves are subject to local library borrowing restrictions.

 

1.    Browse using ALIScat the library's online catalog (a search box also appears on the top of every page of our website).
2.    Once you find the item you wish to reserve, click Request.
3.    In the spaces provided, enter your 14-digit Gold Coast Public library card barcode number (without spaces) and your PIN (see above). Click Submit.
4.    A message will appear indicating that your request was a success.

 

When the requested item is ready to be picked up, you will receive a phone call or an e-mail (if you have supplied us with your e-mail address) informing you of its availability.
 
 

Renewing Books Online

 

1.    Open the My Library Account page (a button to the My Library Account page is also available on the top of every page of our website and on the ALIScat site).
2.    Enter your 14-digit Gold Coast Public library card barcode number (without spaces) and your PIN (see above).
3.    Click on the link Items Currently Checked Out.
4.    Select the box next to the item(s) you wish to renew
5.    Click Renew Selected Items or Renew All.
6.    Please remember to log out of your account when you are finished using the Log Out button.


An item may not be renewed if:

 

•    The item is already overdue.
•    The item has already been renewed once before.
•    The item has been requested by another patron.
•    The item is a Gold Coast Public Library DVD, CD (music), or 14-day book.

Receiving Text Message Notifications

 


Receive text messages indicating when reserves are ready to be picked up and when items are approaching their due dates. Standard messaging rates apply.


1.    Open the My Library Account page (a button to the My Library Account page is also available on the top of every page of our website and on the ALIScat site).
2.    Enter your 14-digit Gold Coast Public library card barcode number (without spaces) and your PIN (see above).
3.    Click on the Modify Personal Information button.
4.    Enter your Mobile Phone Number.
5.    Under the Mobile Alerts via SMS heading, select the Click to opt in option.
6.    Read all terms and conditions and select Opt In.
7.    Please remember to log out of your account when you are finished using the Log Out button.

 


Renewing Items via Text Alerts

 


You must already be signed up for text message notifications to renew items via text alerts. See above for directions. Some items are not eligible for renewal including, but not limited to, overdue items, items with holds waiting, and items already renewed up to their limit. Standard messaging rates apply.

 

1.    When you receive a text message notification that your item is nearly due, reply to that text message with the word RENEW.
2.    Once the system attempts to renew your items, you will receive one of the following two messages:


•    Your items could not be renewed (no items may be renewed)
•    (x) of (y) items were renewed (some or all were renewed)

 


 
Paying Library Fines Online


Please be aware that you can only pay fines using a Visa or MasterCard credit card or a bank card with the MasterCard or Visa logo. You may not pay using a Discover or American Express credit card at this time. There is a minimum payment amount of $5.

1.    Open the My Library Account page (a button to the My Library Account page is also available on the top of every page of our website and on the ALIScat site).
2.    Enter your 14-digit Gold Coast Public library card barcode number (without spaces) and your PIN (see above).
3.    Click on the link stating that you have $XX.XX in Unpaid Fines and Bills.
4.    Select the Pay Online button.
5.    Select which fines you wish to pay and enter your billing and credit card information then click the Submit button.
6.    A confirmation page will appear. Select the Submit button again.
7.    Once your payment has been approved, a receipt will appear. It will automatically be sent to your e-mail address. On your credit card statement, this transaction will appear under the name ALIS UNIONDALE NY ( ALIS, the Nassau County Library System for public users is located in Uniondale).
8.    Please remember to log out of your account when you are finished using the Log Out button.
